Nestled between two
fields in the southern rural part of Montgomery County is where
Bethel is located. We have a
saying at Bethel that has been part of our slogan since Bethel was
founded.
"CHURCH A LIVE AND WORTH THE DRIVE".
We are located around 17 miles from Clarksville, TN and are about 8
miles from the Houston County line and around 8 miles from the Dickson
County line. So whether you live in Montgomery, Houston or
Dickson County, Bethel is the place for you. We are a friendly
and loving church that strives to follow the Holy Spirit in
everything that we endeavor.
Currently we are
looking into the expansion of our church since we are continually
growing in leaps and bounds.
Bethel Baptist Church was formed from members of Hopewell Baptist
Church seeking to fulfill God's work through another local church.
Our first service was held in the Old Store House Building in
Shiloh, now known as L & L Pizza. With 61 Charter Members the Lord
was soon blessings us with the land to build His new church. Bethel
Baptist soon began preparation to build and with God's guidance and
direction, Bethel Baptist Church was erected.
Bro. Paul Adams and Millie along with their two daughters, Tammy and
Michelle served God's Ministry from 1986 until 1989. Tammy was our
pianist.
After the departure of Bro. Adams, Bro Warren Wright and Vicki along
with their daughter Rachel served God's Ministry from 1989 until
1992. Vicki was our pianist.
Beginning in 1993 our church took off in leaps and bounds as Dr. Ted
Denny and Patricia (Tricia) along with their two
daughters Dana and Kimberly were called into God's Ministry at
Bethel. Bro. Ted and Tricia have now added two more children to
their family, two sons, Michael and Matthew, they are blessings from
God through answered prayers.
As with any endeavor there have been hard times and good times at
Bethel, but with the Faith and Leadership of our members, God has
prevailed and Bethel is still winning Souls for Christ!
Bethel has received several honors over the past seven years, the
Tennessee Baptist Convention has honored Bethel for
Outstanding Achievement in the number of Baptisms for 1996, 1997 and
1998. Southern Seminary has honored Bethel as being in the Top 4% of
all Southern Baptist Churches for baptisms in 1998, 2000, 2002, 2003
and 2004.
Today we are still growing more than ever. We have the largest
enrollment we have ever had and with the prayers and
commitment of our Leadership and Members great things are happening
and lives are still being changed by the Holy Spirit of Jesus Christ
at Bethel and through other Bethel Ministries. Above all we give God
all the Honor and Praise for the Great and Mighty things that He has
Blessed Bethel with over the years and the years to come!
"PRAISE GOD!"
